]]> http://alpha.signpostr.com/pg/profile/Alec Fri, 05 Jun 2009 07:43:57 -0700 http://alpha.signpostr.com/pg/profile/Alec <![CDATA[Alec Patton]]> I'm currently involved in two research projects, both looking (from different perspectives and through different lenses) at the intersection between research and teaching in universities, and coming up with ways that lecturers and students can take advantage of the fact that they are all in the business of learning (though one group gets paid to do it, and the other pays for the privilege - a situation not unlike the structure of NGOs that take on gap-year volunteers).

Anyway, one project is called the LRT project and you can read about it here: www.sheffield.ac.uk/lrt). The other is called 'Teaching the Talk', it's about giving undergraduates the chance to do oral history interviews for a major research project in theatre, and you can read about the umbrella project here: www.bl.uk/projects/theatrearchive/homepage.html.

Once these projects end (within the next few months) I'll be looking for new projects, either within or outside academia - in fact, I might be interested in any projects that are going on now - drop me a line.
